Technology to Guide Dental Care
At Highland Dental Centre, the technology we use helps us to detect oral health problems hidden deep within the teeth and oral cavity and provides us with information we may not have been able to glean with just the naked eye.
Not only does technology help with efficiency during your appointment, but we can also display your X-rays and scans on the monitors in our treatment rooms. This allows us to show you any issues in your mouth and walk you through your treatment plan.
Our Pictou County dentists and team believe that providing good communication regarding your oral health plays a key role in helping you maintain long-term good oral health. Technology helps us do that.
Magnification & Microscopes
Using microscopes, your dentist is able to precisely examine your gums and teeth at a level that might not be visible to the naked eye. This precision can help detect microscopic problems, and treat them before they become more serious.
Digital X-Rays
Digital X-rays use digital sensors to produce highly detailed computer images of the teeth and gums, as well as other oral structures. They also include other benefits such as reducing radiation exposure and producing clear images in just minutes.
VELscope® Oral Cancer Screening
Used in screenings for oral cancer and other diseases, the VELscope uses tissue fluorescence to reveal any cellular, structural, or metabolic activity changes occurring inside of your mouth and gums.
Biolase Soft Tissue Lasers
Safe and non-invasive, the Periowave Diode Laser helps our staff identify signs of tooth decay much earlier than other oral health care methods. This soft tissue laser emits both a visual and audible signal identifying early signs of tooth decay.
iTero® 3D Scanner
The iTero intraoral scanner takes accurate, 3D impressions of your bite. It allows us to collect data digitally, and plan for dental implants and orthodontic treatments such as Invisalign.
Panoramic X-Rays
Panoramic X-rays allow your dentist to create a single image of your entire mouth. This image is a flat representation of the teeth, upper and lower jaws, temporomandibular joints (TMJ), and the nasal and sinus structures.
